Professionals for our SAGE program

Number of positions available: many

The SAGE Program is designed to address a huge disconnect between the need for ongoing support, and the services available to meet those needs within our current system. In Canada, survivors of violence/abuse are currently eligible for only a handful of sessions with a licensed therapist/counsellor. For our most vulnerable and traumatized clients, the progress they make comes to a screeching halt at the end of those initial sessions, and the ability to continue with therapy becomes a financial impossibility.

Our goal is to build a team of experts from the fields of mental health, parenting, finance, life coaching, mentoring, spiritual guidance and more – who can offer equitable support and guidance, tailored to our clients’ individual needs; a group of professionals who can guide them forward and support them when they falter. By removing barriers-to-access for our most vulnerable clients, abuse survivors will be better equipped to navigate the traumas they have experienced and move authentically towards hope and healing.

We are seeking professionals to fill various roles in our SAGE program. All candidates will be vetted for suitability and will need to volunteer their time at first, until we are able to secure funding.

  • Internal support person – to provide "on-call" supervision to the SAGE team after a distressing phone call or interaction with a client.
  • Client Liaison – to lead the initial assessment and ongoing coordination of clients' needs in the SAGE program
  • Registered Psychologists – to work directly with clients for short-term, intensive, trauma-informed therapy (approx. 8-10 sessions)
  • Financial Coaches – to work directly with clients (approx. 2-4 sessions)
  • Career Counsellors – to work directly with clients on career guidance, course selection, resume writing, and interview prep (approx. 2-4 sessions)
  • Life Coaches – to work directly with clients to set goals, organize their home, set action plans, offer time management and motivation (approx. 3-6 sessions)
  • Personal Trainers – to work directly with clients and/or their children to create a fitness program and inspire a healthy living plan (x1/week for a min. of 3-6 months)
  • Nutritionists – to work directly with clients and/or their children to assess health needs, develop budget-conscious meal plans, and teach healthy eating habits (approx. 2-4 sessions)
  • Parenting Coaches – to work directly with clients on healthy parenting skills in the wake of violence (approx 6-8 sessions)

All experts must be independently licensed and insured; provide a certificate of insurance; and successfully complete a vulnerable sector screening police check.
