Welcome to the 482 Collective. Thoughtful giving, redefined.
Welcome
The 482 Collective is actively reimagining how we help people who are bravely struggling to make ends meet after experiencing trauma or abuse. We support women, children and gender-diverse individuals who have fled gender-based violence, including: human trafficking, intimate partner violence, sexual assault, and physical/emotional abuse. We recognize the enormous courage it takes to acknowledge an abusive situation, make the decision to leave, and ask for help. Our goal is to provide access to services and alleviate some of the burden caused by repeated trauma, so our clients can think clearly and begin to rebuild their lives. We listen closely to our clients so we can give them what they need, not what we think they need. By making an effort to honour personal preferences, cultural differences, and freedom of choice, we make it possible for our clients to (re)claim their sense of power and autonomy. We are an innovative registered Canadian charity providing timely support of essential items such as food, personal hygiene products, home essentials, cleaning supplies, and more. We work with corporations, small businesses, individuals, and community organizations to help remove barriers to access for these resources.
It feels good to help people. So go out there and feel good. – SIMON SINEK
A note from our visionary founder
When I was a child, I felt injustice in my bones. I was unusually outspoken about the inequity I witnessed and I’ve carried that restlessness into my adult life. For years I dreamed of creating a kinder world for my children. Now I am thrilled to be manifesting that dream into reality with this incredible charitable organization we are building. The 482 Collective is intentionally designed to harness the spirit of collective giving – because we can accomplish so much more when we work together. We connect with community service organizations, local police, individuals, families, and corporations to respond to high needs in low income communities across the GTA. I am proud that we are able to deliver essential items directly to clients who are struggling to put food on their table – and sometimes we even deliver the table itself. We love working with people who are energized by giving on a human level, in a way that preserves the dignity of those in need. I invite you to book an appointment to visit our warehouse space and see how you can join us on this incredible journey.
